Azure Advisor and Service Health: how to review retirements

A catalogue tells you what to investigate
A published retirement catalogue gives you a service or feature and a date. It is useful for planning, but it does not establish that a particular customer is affected. Start by finding the feature in the official guidance, then decide what inventory or configuration evidence you need.
Use Advisor for the resource-specific view
Where Microsoft provides affected-resource information, an Advisor retirement recommendation can give more direct evidence than a service-name comparison. Review the applicable subscription and the retirement recommendation details. Missing recommendations are not a comprehensive all-clear: source coverage and available impact information have limits.
Include Service Health in the review process
Service Health is another place to review service notices and health advisories for the environment you operate. Keep its notifications alongside your retirement workflow so customer communications and operational context do not get lost in a separate inbox.
Reconcile the evidence
When a catalogue date, an advisory and a resource recommendation appear inconsistent, retain the links and record which specific feature each describes. Check whether one notice is about creation restrictions while another concerns support ending or a final retirement. Escalate unresolved ambiguity before making a migration commitment.
Build an evidence trail that another engineer can use
Keep the source URL, checked date, subscription context, configuration evidence, owner and next action together. Do not paste credentials or full configuration secrets into the record. The goal is a review that another engineer can reproduce without needing access to your personal notes.
